How to Play

The goal of Age of War is simple: destroy the enemy's base while protecting your own. You earn experience points automatically over time and by successfully damaging the enemy's defenses. Core Gameplay Loop

1. Build units: Spend gold to train era-appropriate troops. Stone Age cavemen are cheap but weak, while futuristic laser troopers are expensive but devastating.
2. Send attacks: Click on troop icons to send units marching across the battlefield toward the enemy base. Each unit type moves at a different speed and attacks differently.
3. Evolve through the ages: Fill your experience bar to advance through all six ages of warfare. Each evolution transforms your entire army.
4. Use special powers: Each age has a unique special ability on a cooldown timer. Use them at critical moments to turn the tide of battle.
5. Defend your base: Your headquarters has a health bar. If it reaches zero, you lose the battle. Keep enemy units away from your base at all costs.

The Six Ages

• Stone Age: Cavemen, club warriors, and basic stone walls. Slow but steady start.
• Ancient Age: Spear throwers, archers, chariots, and stone fortifications.
• Medieval Age: Knights, crossbowmen, siege weapons, and castle walls with towers.
• Gunpowder Age: Musketeers, cannons, riflemen, and reinforced bunkers.
• Modern Age: Machine gunners, rocket launchers, tanks, and concrete fortifications.
• Futuristic Age: Laser troopers, hover tanks, plasma cannons, and energy shields.

Controls

• Mouse click or Tap on troop unit icons at the bottom of the screen to deploy them into battle
• Click/Tap the age progress bar at the top to see how close you are to evolving to the next age
• Click/Tap the special ability button (located near the unit bar) when it glows and is fully charged
• Watch the battlefield to monitor your troops' progress and the enemy's movements
• Use keyboard shortcuts on desktop: number keys 1-6 for quick unit deployment

Tips for Victory

• Balance offense and defense: One of the biggest mistakes new players make is focusing entirely on attacking while neglecting their defenses. Keep a balance — send enough troops to pressure the enemy, but save some gold for upgrading your walls and defensive structures.
• Save special abilities for critical moments: Special abilities like the nuclear strike or healing wave have long cooldown periods. Don't waste them on small skirmishes. Save them for when the enemy sends a massive wave of troops or when your base is about to be overwhelmed.
• Advance through ages quickly: The faster you evolve, the more powerful your units become. Prioritize experience gain by being aggressive. A player who stalls in the Stone Age will eventually be overwhelmed.
• Use cheap units for pressure: Low-cost units like cavemen and basic soldiers are excellent for maintaining constant pressure on the enemy. Keep sending waves of cheap troops to chip away at the enemy's health while you save up for more expensive upgrades.
• Counter the enemy's strategy: Pay attention to what the enemy is building. If they're spamming ranged units, invest in fast melee units that close the distance quickly. If they're building heavy defensive walls, use siege units or special abilities to break through.
• Learn unit counters: Each age has unit counter systems. Fast units beat slow ranged units. Heavy units beat light units. Flying units beat ground-only defenses. Learning these counters is the key to victory.
• Don't let the enemy advance first: If the enemy reaches a new age before you do, their units will be significantly stronger. Try to stay at least even in the age progression race.
